Reducing Carbon Emissions
We make the rounds on a schedule to deliver to you and your neighbors at the same time. Our once-a-week delivery model allows us to batch and optimize routes in an eco-friendly way—think of this as how a city bus route is more efficient and creates fewer carbon emissions than an on-demand taxi.
Sourcing Partnerships with Preferred Suppliers and Local Businesses
To source high-quality products in the most sustainable way possible, we prioritize direct partnerships with preferred vendors, bulk suppliers, and local businesses. Of our top 1,000 products, 100% are sourced directly through these preferred, one-to-one channels. On very rare occasions when an item is out of stock, we may place an emergency order via a conventional retailer instead, but this is not our standard practice.
Our focus has been on sourcing a greater share of our assortment from locally-owned businesses, which helps our communities and reduces transportation impact from freight. We’re excited that so far this year (2025 YTD) almost 40% of our products come from locally-owned businesses. You can see how here our assortment has evolved:
Reusable Packaging
To minimize waste, we partner with Dispatch Goods, which specializes in reusable alternatives to single-use packaging. Together, we have kept more than 184,000 reusable containers in circulation so far this year (2025 YTD). Last month (March 2025), we introduced reusable cooler bags and ice packs, and four out of five cooler bags are already being reused in our operation today.
Most vendors have minimum order requirements, but as we scale, we hope to have a greater influence on the sustainability of our supply chain. Today, we provide select partners with reusable containers to reduce bulk packaging required for shipping. For example, Bean2Bean fills coffee directly into our reusable jars and Lancaster Farm Fresh Co-Op packs produce directly into reusable cooler bags we supply.
Progress Over Perfection
It’s a tall order to tackle the challenge of sustainable grocery delivery. If we waited until solutions were perfect, we’d never get started. Each day, we work to operate more efficiently, source more sustainably, and further reduce our impact on the environment. While we’re always looking for ways to do better, we’re proud of how we operate today. Thanks for being a Member. We wouldn’t be here without you and your support.
Sincerely,
