Because There Is No Planet B!

We know it might feel like magic, but when your jars of coffee and cereal arrive on your doorstep it's actually gone through a journey to get to you! We have some of the greatest minds (we might be a little biased), working on making this journey as streamlined, efficient and GREEN as possible. Those minds wanted to pop in and say "Howdy, Neighbor!" to give you a peek behind the curtain to reveal what they've been up to, and to show how YOU can help keep this zero-waste thing going by just following our one rule: Give us our jars back ♻️

Hey there, Evan here - the head of service design at The Rounds. First off, thank you for joining us all on our mission to deliver zero-waste everyday essentials through our closed-loop refill and delivery service.

My team and I could spend all the time in the world in a meeting room with a white board and a marker planning, strategizing and working towards making the impacts we want to make, but we can only take it so far...It's you, our Members, who are the ones who truly make the impact that we're  striving for.

In 2022 alone, we've had the opportunity to save over 523 trees - that’s over 237,000 kg of CO2 that can be saved from entering our atmosphere. 'How would we do this?' You ask. Well, by simply returning our 8, 16, and 32oz jars and bags that we drop off on your doorstep each week. That's it! You don't even have to leave the house to be doing better for the planet.

An average household discards more than 1,200lbs of packaging waste per year - that’s almost 4 lbs every day. Think about the impact you’re able to make by just choosing to get your essentials restocked by us and our reusable containers. It’s kind of insane. But it all comes back to you leaving out your empties on your welcome mat each Refill Day.

On top of that, we are doing the right thing the right way, so we don't use big delivery vans just for the sake of being able to make more deliveries - instead we are actively investing in making the rounds in the greenest way possible: on e-bike, electric TukTuks and electric vans that are coming soon.

What we’ve been up to

You may have noticed QR labels on your reusable containers and our new green bags made from 50% recycled material. These are part of a system that my team and I have been improving over the past months. These now allow for us to better keep track of how many containers and empties  we get back after dropping them on our Member's doorsteps. This helps us better keep track of what's in circulation.

We use a special app that lets us scan in the jar and assign them to a Member's profile with The Rounds. Which we then use to be able to track how many "loops" the jars are making. More loops = more trash we're keeping out of our landfills!

What you can do!

Every single piece of reusable packaging should be returned! Every bag, container, 6-pack holder, laundry-pod sack. We clean and reuse the packaging - it's what makes our system sustainable. So don't be clingy, return our stuff!

We're incrementally improving our system each and every day, but at the end of the day, we need you - our Members - to help us close the loop.

Keep being the friendly neighborhood planet-savers that you are.

Cheers,

Evan
